Refuses to correct his work that is incorrect

I have a 3rd grade student who rushes through their work and marks the wrong answer. When prompted to correct their answer, he argues and says that his answer is right and won't bother attempting to locate the right answer. What interventions have been used that might help this student?

OCD 18 year old student in Transition to Work Program.

I currently have student who is struggling with OCD. Each day is like starting over for him. Visual and verbal prompts to walk into the school, to navigate to the classroom, open his Chromebook and complete daily tasks. We have asigned him the same tasks each day, provided picture checklists, and verbal prompts. He seems to be degressing each day. He expresses he is worried about summer break coming up then starting back to our class in Aug, that it is a lot of changes. Any other suggestions or websites with more info and resources on OCD and tools to help him feel more relief?

I would start by teaching the students relationship skills, coping skills, and conflict resolution. Assess the students. Determine are they ESE is the behavior a result of a disability and then make time to use the resources listed under PBISWORLD aggressiveness/bullying and name calling. First step, would be to talk to the student I think because sometime a conversation with a trusted adult could go a long way. You may find information about the student and what they are going through that can help facilitate the correct responses and make the behavior stop.

I am a behavior interventionist and I am so happy I found this site. I was struggling with understanding the difference between the tiers and how and when to decide to move up in the tiers. We have high levels of disrespect referrals especially in kindergarten but across all grade levels. I am going to use the In school suspension consequence as an opportunity to teach these kids some skills by using the interventions that are listed in PBIS World.

Our school has a kindergarten student that is physical with classmates. He constantly pushes and hits classmates. This is a problem when moving around the classroom and going to, from, and at recess. He has had is recess taken away and has been sent home. Besides parents picking him up from school when called, there is not much parental support. When teacher tries to talk to him, he just smiles at her.

Suggestions, Please.

@saanders Are you using hall passes? Not the time-consuming paper slips but lanyards with on them. Amulets can be 3"x5" wooden pieces made by your local middle school woodshop class. Most teachers in my elementary school have 4 per classroom: Boy Hall Pass, Girl Hall Pass, Boy Restroom Pass, Girl Restroom Pass. Expectation is three (3) minutes per pass. Teachers keep these by the door so hyperactive kids can dismiss themselves. Color coded ones make verification convenient.
Hall pass (yellow) is for water break, retrieve from locker, or other errand. Restroom passes (red) are for toilets only because some will eventually abuse your rules amidst other students with legitimate need. Strong enforcement with restroom passes, less with hall passes. After 3 weeks, you'll know who to be punctilious with, likely resorting to, '...you lost that liberty because you dawdled last time'. Keep amulets on your person if you need hand-to-hand encounters for tracking purposes.

Related: I know of one high school that adamantly directs substitute teachers (a.k.a. Supply Teacher or Relief Teacher) no hall passes of any sort, not even restroom breaks! It's a hard sell but so worth it for the supply teacher.

My school is experiencing two students who are skipping class as well. I am also wondering if anyone has found solutions. Our student was leaving campus all together last year. Now, he just stays outside on campus the entire time. The only reason he stays on campus now is because he is afraid his mom will get in trouble if he doesn't. We have also told him that if he leaves campus, we are forced to call law enforcement to bring him back, per his safety plan. He avoids law enforcement as much as he can. That has been enough to keep him on campus. We are still working on getting him to come to class and learn something. Now, a friend of his in the same class is copying his out-of-class behavior as well.
