I'm curious to know if you include incomplete/missing homework as part of your PBIS system (we use a behavior stick), and why or why not. We are a very small rural, high-poverty school. Homework is a significant issue for grades 4 and 5 due to insufficient support/modeling/caring at home. Many of our students are surrounded by addiction of some sort, poverty, and some type of abuse, be it physical or emotional, and most definitely neglect. I believe it is unethical to clip a child down three times first thing in the morning for homework, but the teachers struggle because they don't have "anything to punish them with." They are unphased by silent lunch or laps at recess. HELP!
